After continuing to monitor tomorrow’s forecast, we have made the decision to cancel all Sunday games. Given the extremely rare circumstances of the pending tropical storm warning, the reality is, there is no way to predict what we are up against tomorrow. Safety of the players, families, referees, volunteers and staff is always the top priority for us at City SC.
While playing in unfavorable weather is not typically an issue on our turf fields, when factoring in the travel logistics for all of the above mentioned parties, we feel this is the safest option if what we see tomorrow is in fact more than just a little rain.
As much as we would love to wait it out and see what tomorrow brings, we understand the logistical issues of traveling during the storm, so have made a decision as early as possible to allow those traveling from out of town the flexibility to begin the journey home this evening.
Thank you for your understanding and patience over the course of the past 48 hours. This is truly an unprecedented situation. We hope that everyone enjoyed a beautiful day on the fields today, and was able to play some competitive games in preparation for the upcoming league season.
We will follow up mid-week with how this impacts standings, etc, once our staff has met.
Stay safe and dry.
Kind regards,
Coastal Classic Tournament Committee
